About Hedwig Schipperheijn
From the first day I can remember I have been an adventurer. This has led me to travel and live in many different places in Europe and North America.
The magic of travel is something that has never left me. Something that became, or maybe always was, part of my DNA. Seeing and experiencing the "colours" of (other) cultures through its people, food, music, and architecture, in my eyes, represents the vibrancy of life. It's a journey full of meaning and purpose to me and that energy is something I strive to convey through my imagery.
“Photography is a means to show my view of the world one frame at a time.”
My current focus is on capturing the emotion pregnancy brings to mothers to-be or mothers with their little babies. The joy of expecting has changed very much in the last 30 years in that mothers love to show-off the life growing inside their bellies. Gone are the days of being modest!
In addition, I continue to focus on travel and lifestyle photography with Vancouver as my main source of fuel.
Exploring different scenes and light conditions allow me to experiment and continue to develop and evolve my style of photography. I prefer to use natural light as my main source of light because the energy the sun emanates can not be replicated or cloned through any other light medium. It creates an energy and sensation that's simply authentic and alive.
Photography is a means to show my view of the world one frame at a time, but more importantly, it is something tangible that I can share with people close to me and whoever looks my way. There is something very satisfying in hearing friends and clients express joy in seeing a world they haven't yet seen, or seeing themselves or their children in a light that captures the essence of them in that moment.
Have Camera, Will Travel
Being the globetrotter that I am, I am more than happy to travel beyond the Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler region for assignment work. So don't be shy, give me a call!
